Henrik Ibsen was a major 19th century Norwegian playwright. He was born in Norway, march 20, 1828. He is "the father of realism". his major works where "An enemy of the people", A Doll's house", and The Wild Duck". He wrote his plays in Danish
     He grow up in a rich family, in the small port town of Skien in Telemark county. But as he got older his father went bankrupt and eventually forced to sell the major Altenburg building in central Skien. Then they moved to their small summer home, Venstop, outside the city. At 15 he was forced to leave school. He spent the next several years employed at Dat norske. theater. Where he was involved in more then 145 plays as a writer, director, and producer. He died may 23th 1906.
